SE ASIA - DAY 19 - PAKSE to THAKHEK

My next destination is Thakhek, a small town right beside Thailand divided by the grand Mekong River.

Thakhek is the starting place for the Thakhek loop, whereby you go one big round and get to see many interesting places and natural caves around that area.

It took me about 4.5hrs reaching Thakhek, roads from Pakse to Thakhek were fine, but there are lots of traffic when passing through the small towns. Also, maintained my speed at about 80km/hr due to the large number of cows and dogs roaming the roads.

The Thakhek Mekong Hotel, priced at SGD20/night without breakfast.

located right beside the Mekong River.

A large map at the roadside.

Previously, I was put away by these BBQ stores on the roadside, they don't look hygiene with lots of flies flying around them.

This trip, I have tried a few time of this and found it to be really nice.
BBQ pork with Beer Lao, Alfresco style beside the Mekong River, 30,000KIP (SGD5), obviously a tourist price.

Their chilli was good, mixed with some fermented bean sauce, just like our sambal belachan.

and then a stroll in the old quiet town.
